Sync Trends in 2021
Did you know that the demand for sync music in 2021 is growing rapidly and becoming more lucrative as a result of the dramatic increase in content creation by the likes of Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV and Amazon Prime? And that isn’t all, the demand for sync music, which was once on the fringes of the music industry, is exploding in other markets, too. Advertising is broadening its reach across different screens, user generated content is surging, and the gaming industry is thriving. Even the fitness industry is expanding its use of music.
In a recent Digital Music News interview, Music Supervisor Lisa James and Alex Menck of Big Sync Music, share their thoughts on emerging trends in sync music in 2021:
Interest in up-and-coming artists due to covid related budget restrictions.
More requests for upbeat, positive, female energy with attitude.
Authenticity. As always, clients want to work with musicians and composers who are true to their styles and genres rather than trying to be everything to everyone.
Composers who understand the storyteller’s need for editing options within a track such as breaks, crescendos, and a variety of sounds and moments.
Instrumentals as engaging as vocal versions of songs.
Percussive driven tracks are always popular placements because they are so versatile.
Soul music and positive urban beats are also popular.
