I thought I was a real hot shot early in my teaching career. Initially I taught students in a school that had higher test scores and fewer needs. Eventually, when I landed at a different school that had lower test scores and more needs, I imagined coming in, working my magic, and watching test scores soar. I cringe admitting this now, but it's the truth. I learned a lot about myself in those years – to look past myself and see the true needs of individual students and their families. My approach and mindset had to evolve to fully appreciate where individual students were at any given moment so I could play a meaningful role in helping them find their individual next steps forward. It wasn't about me.

That lesson drives our mission. Riverland Collective isn’t about me – it’s about all of us and discovering what role we can play in your next steps and what role you can play in ours. As we learn and grow, we will continue moving forward toward our vision to be a successful music house that is by artists, for artists.

What a delicate and difficult journey it is creating art while navigating how best to put it out into the world so that it is appreciated...and earns money. I, like you, continue on this journey myself. And, similar to my days in the classroom, I continue to be passionate about working with others and having a role in their next steps forward. We're investing a great deal of time, energy, and money positioning and organizing all of the various pieces in play so that Riverland Collective can be a successful outlet – for all of us.

We’re excited to kick off this news section that will offer articles, updates, and miscellaneous tidbits of interest ranging from the music industry to artist features to tips for creating exceptional music and everything in between.
